Last Minute The market for gaite 2010 In Umbria Bevagna draws inspiration from the division of Bevagna in four districts named Gaite which was based on the administrative organization of the city during the Middle Ages
The purpose of the event is to rebuild with greater relevance and historical detail the daily life of the inhabitants of Bevagna in the period between 1250 and 1350
To this end, since 1983 a group of scholars carefully examine the statutes of the sixteenth-century town of Bevagna from which it derives the necessary information to the historical reconstruction of the political, administrative, economic and social.
For ten days, then at the end of June Bevagna is a dip in the remote past: the ancient medieval crafts shops opening their doors and take over the assets and the streets are populated, which beverage of vintage clothing in our daily living of their ancestors by eating, working, playing just like them.
Today, as then, the city is divided into four gaite but now rivals with each other in an attempt to give a historically accurate interpretation of the role it had in the Middle Ages. The spirit of competition is behind the animated show and is reflected by the participation of four races: the race of the market, competition of culinary skills competition, sports of archery. With a complex points system, experts assigned by professors in different fields and asked to judge the relevance of history, the last day of the event is declared the winner receiving the prize as a gift of victory.
